Transportable recompression chamber for road, sea and air deployment
A Tech Plus transportable recompression chamber brings emergency recompression to the diving site, ship or hospital that needs it, without waiting for the casualty to be transferred to a distant hyperbaric centre.
- Since 1988
- Road, sea or air
- Designed in Bandol, France
The emergency recompression chamber that comes to you
A transportable recompression chamber, also called a mobile or deployable hyperbaric chamber, is built to be moved and commissioned away from any fixed hyperbaric facility: on a diving worksite, next to a tunnel driven under compressed air, aboard a ship or as temporary capacity for a hospital. A hyperbaric specialist since 1988, Tech Plus designs and supplies these chambers from its engineering office in Bandol, France, then handles installation, maintenance and staff training.
When a diver, a compressed-air worker or a patient needs recompression, every transfer to a distant hyperbaric centre delays treatment and complicates the evacuation. Placing the chamber close to the risk means recompression can begin without waiting for that transfer.
From 2022 to 2026, Tech Plus held lot 3, “emergency recompression chamber”, of the UniHA framework agreement for hyperbaric chambers, with its TP1228 model. In 2022, the press also reported a lightweight 1,100 kg aluminium chamber developed for the navy of a NATO member country.
Hospitals
Meet an occasional hospital or pre-hospital need without building a fixed hyperbaric unit.
Navies and armed forces
Recompression capacity carried aboard or set up close to military divers.
Diving and hyperbaric works
A chamber on site for commercial divers and crews working under compressed air on tunnel boring machines.
International projects
Tech Plus has worked in more than 28 countries and can organize transport to site.

Why choose a Tech Plus transportable chamber
Chamber, gases, safety systems and control panel travel in the same container, so deployment is a logistics job rather than a construction project.
Road, sea or air
Lifted at four points, the 20 ft container travels on a semi-trailer, on a ship's deck or inside a transport aircraft.
Everything in one container
Main chamber, personnel airlock, medical lock, gas storage, fire protection and control panel share the same 20 ft box.
5 bar, choice of gases
B50 cylinders of 10 m³ at 200 bar store the breathing gas selected for the project: air, oxygen, heliox or nitrox.
Safety built in
Water spray fire protection in both compartments (5 bar maximum), a safety valve on the main chamber and an external oxygen analyser.
Staff trained on site
We commission the installation with your team and train operators in normal and emergency procedures.
One partner throughout
Supply, installation, maintenance and training are coordinated by a single point of contact in Bandol, from the first discussion to daily operation.
Containerized hyperbaric chamber: the whole installation in one 20 ft container
Our containerized installation, which is also available for rent, brings the core elements of a recompression facility into one 20 ft container: a main chamber and a personnel airlock with autoclave doors working on the equal-pressure principle, a medical lock, gas storage, fire protection and the control panel.
Through the airlock, a physician or attendant can join the patient, or leave, without the main chamber being decompressed; the medical lock passes medicines and small equipment in without interrupting treatment. For decompression illness, the 10th ECHM European Consensus Conference (Lille, 2016) lists US Navy Table 6, the Comex Cx30 heliox table or an equivalent as initial treatment, hence the value of carrying both oxygen and heliox on board.
Inside the container
- HP pressurization of the chamber and airlock, with an exhaust for each compartment
- External CO₂ discharge through a relief valve
- Pressure gauges on the chamber and airlock, oxygen analyser outside the chamber
- O-rings on doors and viewports, safety valve on the main chamber
- Cold-light illumination, intercom, cameras, UPS and backup systems
- Water spray fire protection in both compartments, with water discharged outside the chamber

Deploying a transportable recompression chamber, from transport to commissioning
Before shipment, we agree with you on the route, the lifting equipment available at departure and on arrival, and the installation area. On site, the container is set down, connected to electrical power and checked by our technicians, gas reserves and safety systems included, before the first pressurization.
Every project starts with a study of the intended use: hospital, ship or worksite, number of people to treat, gas endurance, climate and transport constraints. Weight is one of those constraints, especially aboard ship, as the 1,100 kg aluminium chamber mentioned above illustrates. Requirements specific to armed forces are covered on our military hyperbaric chamber page.
Needs assessment
Use, transport route and installation site are analysed before any technical choice.
Delivery and installation
Transport organized to site, positioning and connections.
Commissioning and training
Tests with your team and operator training in normal and emergency procedures.
Maintenance
Upkeep and servicing of the installation after commissioning.
