A decompression chamber for divers, built around the worksite
On a commercial diving project, the deck decompression chamber does two jobs: it lets divers complete their decompression dry, at the surface, and it allows a diver with decompression sickness to be recompressed without delay. Founded in 1988 and based in Bandol, on the Mediterranean coast of southern France, Tech Plus counts industrial diving among its long-standing sectors.
Our chambers follow the twin-lock principle: a main chamber where the diver is treated, and a personnel lock that lets an attendant enter or leave without bringing the main chamber back to atmospheric pressure. A medical lock fitted to the chamber passes medicines and small items in and out during treatment.
Rules vary from country to country. In France, for example, the ministerial order (arrêté) of 14 May 2019 on hyperbaric work carried out underwater (mention A) requires employers to ensure that a standby recompression chamber is available in case of an accident. Surface decompression
The diver completes decompression dry, inside the chamber, under the supervision of the surface team.

Designed around diver safety
On our 20 ft containerized chamber, safety functions are built in at the design stage, so the supervisor stays in control from pressurization until the occupants come out.
Main chamber and entry lock
An attendant can join the diver through the personnel lock without interrupting treatment in the main chamber.
Water-spray fire protection
Water spray in both hyperbaric compartments at up to 5 bar; the water is then drained outside the chamber.
Monitored atmosphere
An oxygen analyser mounted outside the chamber, plus pressure gauges on both the main chamber and the lock.
Gas on hand
B50 cylinders of 10 m³ at 200 bar for air, oxygen, heliox or nitrox, to suit your diving procedures.
Constant contact
Intercom and cameras keep the supervisor in touch with the occupants throughout decompression or treatment, while a UPS and backup systems keep the installation running.

A twin-lock decompression chamber designed in line with IMCA guidance
IMCA, the International Marine Contractors Association, publishes guidance for diving systems, including two documents in its DESIGN series: D023, for surface orientated (air) diving systems, and D040, for mobile or portable surface-supplied systems. Tech Plus designs its decompression chambers in line with IMCA guidance and builds the documents your client specifies into the design study.
In a commercial diving chamber, safety comes down to details: autoclave (pressure-seated) doors that only open once pressures are equalized, O-rings on the doors and viewports, taper threads on the bulkhead penetration bushings, and a safety valve that limits any pressure rise in the main chamber.

For temporary or remote worksites, Tech Plus delivers the complete installation in a 20 ft container: a 5 bar chamber with main compartment and lock, gas storage, oxygen analyser, pressure gauges, medical lock and water-spray fire protection. The container is lifted at its four lifting points and trucked to the quayside or the site base.
Need a chamber for a single campaign? We rent self-contained hyperbaric units of 1,500 and 1,600 mm diameter and train your staff to operate them. For a permanent installation, we handle the design study, construction, installation and maintenance.
